Our Experience
We set up Sustainability Co. in December 2020 to help local authorities, universities and institutions respond to the climate emergency.

Sustainability Leadership
Jeff Laidler is the Founder and Managing Director of Sustainability Co. He is a sustainability leader, start-up specialist and speaker with 25 years’ experience in the public and private sector.
Jeff has gained approval for over £100 million investment in two UK city-scale heat networks - Notting Dale Heat and Energetik. He has also helped establish five successful UK sustainability start-ups and the OrbisEnergy offshore wind business incubator.
Sustainability Co. is currently:
1) Leading work to develop the Cambridge City-Centre Heat Network project, filling the role of Heat Network Programme Manager. We work closely with Cambridge City Council, University of Cambridge, College Bursars and Anglia Ruskin University.
2) Contracted to fill the role of Heat Network Programme Manager for Kensington & Chelsea Council, successfully taking the Notting Dale Heat Network project from feasibility to construction. Recently selected by government as an exemplar, we are putting a green recovery at the heart of a Grenfell recovery and set the bar for sustainable urban living.
3) Providing heat network expertise to The V&A, working closely with Imperial College, the Natural History Museum and Science Museum to help decarbonise the South Ken ZEN heat network.
Awards:
- Sustainability Co. won 'Business, Consulting & Management Start-Up of the Year' at the East of England Start-Up Awards 2023.
- In 2019 the ADE presented its UK ‘Domestic Award’ to Enfield Council and Energetik for using heat networks and heat pumps to create a blueprint for a low carbon future. Jeff led early development of these projects.
- In 2017 Jeff won 'Sustainability Leader of the Year' at the national SHIFT awards.
- In 2016 Jeff led Enfield Council’s Sustainability team to win the LGC’s national ‘Public Services Team of the Year 2016.’
